MalwareBytes.org

Last week an acquaintance of mine shared a computer-troubleshooting story with me, and I’d like to now share that story with you.
A few days earlier my acquaintance’s day started off on the wrong foot when he tried to turn on his computer only to find that it was …. frozen. Restarting didn’t help. Booting the operating system into Safe Mode didn’t help. Smacking the machine itself didn’t help.
A Denver contact suggested visiting www.malwarebytes.org, explaining that the site just might provide a solution to his dilemma. The only problem was … my acquaintance couldn’t access the Internet from his computer to begin with.
Being a resourceful fellow, my acquaintance jaunted down to the public library, visited the MalwareBytes website, determined that his computer had been frozen by a fake MS worm virus, downloaded MalwareBytes’s fix onto his thumbdrive, installed the fix onto his computer in less than 10 minutes, and that was that. His computer worked once again, good as new.
And thus, everyone, the moral of this story is to keep www.malwarebytes.org on your short list of things to try whenever your computer starts acting like it’s caught a bug.
