I recently learned that October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. As the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (a division of the Department of Human Services) strives to increase the public’s awareness of the contributions and skills of American workers with disabilities this month, I figured I could do my part by sharing a few related websites with you.

First, you can visit the ADA homepage at http://www.ada.gov and then the ADA business connection, located at http://www.ada.ov/business.htm. Then you could hop over to the EEO Commission website located at http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html. Once you’re done there, you could check out SOAR (the Searchable Online Accommodation Resource) at http://www.jan.wvu.edu/soar/disabilities.html.

Congress made October National Disability Employment Awareness Month for a reason; take just a moment, won’t you, this October, to become just a touch more aware.

Turn Your Photos Into Something Special

Posted in: Web Info, Tips & Tricks

Take your favorite 6-inch by 4-inch photo, spend $199 plus shipping, wait four to six weeks, and what do you get? Your very own personalized 6-foot by 4-foot canvas wall mural, of course.

This “we-turn-your-photo-into-a-really-huge-canvas-mural-for-your-wall” service is actually offered by none other than … Pottery Barn Teen. Yep, Pottery Barn Teen. Really.

Whenever you’re ready, just hop over to http://www.pbteen.com/products/p1904 to order your very own wall mural of your puppy, of you and your buddies, or the recent sunset over Mount Royal. (Though I must admit I’m feeling far more tempted to use this service as the base of a clever practical joke …)
